Foama Customization Process
At Foama, we take customization seriously. Our process begins with understanding the specific needs of each customer and their equipment. From there, our team of experts work closely with you to design and craft a custom-made insert that perfectly fits your equipment and provides the best possible protection. Our advanced technology and precision engineering ensure that your custom insert will not only look great but will also function flawlessly.
The actual process is as follows:
- 3D Scanning
- Design
- Approval
- Production
Not only you can fully customize the design an insert to fit your specific equipment, you can further customize the aesthetics of your case by:
- Choosing a color layer that matches your brand or just a color you like. You have the option to choose from Yellow, Red, Pink, Blue and White.
- Customizing the top Lid with a logo/statement/name
- Choosing the colour of the hardcase
1. 3D Scanning
Before we start the design process, and to ensure the most optimized design, we need accurate measurements of your equipment. This step is crucial in determining how your equipment will fit into the insert. To ensure the most precise measurements and shape for designing the insert, we use a 3D scanning process to scan your equipment individually. You will need to book an appointment in our design studio for this process.
Depending on the quantity and complexity of your equipment, the scanning process can take a couple of hours. But rest assured that we take the time to ensure the most accurate measurements, so you get a custom-made insert that fits your equipment perfectly.
2. Layout and Design
Here is where our design experts work their magic. Using 3D scans of your equipment and incorporating your specific requirements and preferences, we come up with the most efficient design that provides optimal protection for your equipment while looking amazing. Once we finalize the design, we send it over to you for approval and any possible revisions.
3. Review & Approve
We understand that changes of heart and mind, as well as general revisions, may be necessary during the design process, and we strive to accommodate our clients as best we can. Once you are satisfied with the final design, we will move on to the next phase of production.
4. Production and Assembly
Now it's time for our team of experts in the production department to bring your custom foam design to life. They will carefully cut, assemble, and fabricate the foam to your exact specifications, ensuring a perfect fit for your high-end equipment.
Our highly skilled technicians use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to create foam inserts that are not only functional but also visually stunning. They take great pride in their work and are dedicated to delivering the highest quality products to our valued customers.
So sit back and relax, knowing that your custom foam insert is in good hands. Our production team will work diligently to create a product that meets or exceeds your expectations, and we'll keep you updated throughout the process.
5. The Hardcase
We prefer to supply our custom inserts with a hardcase because it allows us to ensure a perfect fit for every project. To guarantee the highest quality, we have partnered with Nanuk, a Canadian manufacturer of hardcases known for their quality and reputation in our industry. Supplying both the hardcase and custom insert also allows us to provide a better price for your project. Additionally, we are able to supply custom-engineered hardcases for your specific needs.
However, in some instances, you may have your own hardcase or engineered case and only require the foam insert. In these cases, we would be happy to work with you. Please note, we will need to know the exact inside dimensions of your hardcase to ensure a proper fit, and extra charges will apply.
What Types of Foam Can Be Used and What Foam Do We Use?
There are 3 types of foam that can be used for packaging and protection.
PU foam, or polyurethane foam, is an open-cell foam that is soft, flexible, and provides excellent shock absorption. It is often used in furniture, bedding, and automotive applications, as well as for insulation and cushioning. We typically use this foam for Pick&Pluck, Stock foam or just as the interior top lid cover.
PE foam, or polyethylene foam, is a closed-cell foam that is lightweight, durable, and resistant to moisture, chemicals, and temperature changes. It is commonly used for packaging, insulation, and cushioning applications. This foam does not provide you with a color choice and is the less expensive version.
EVA foam, or ethylene-vinyl acetate foam, is a closed-cell foam that is soft, flexible, and offers the best impact resistance. It is commonly used in sports equipment, such as helmets and padding, as well as for shoe insoles, yoga mats, and other cushioning applications. EVA foam is also available in a variety of densities and colors.
Is EVA Foam better than the other types and why?
Yes, there are several advantages to using EVA foam for foam inserts.
- EVA foam is known for its exceptional shock absorption, which makes it an ideal material for protecting delicate or sensitive equipment.
- Its closed-cell structure also provides good insulation and water resistance, further protecting your equipment from damage.
- Additionally, EVA foam is lightweight, easy to work with, and can be easily customized to fit the specific needs of your equipment.
- It is also available in a range of densities and colors, making it a versatile choice for foam inserts.
